Drivers and teams happy to be back on LeCont tyres in OK
30/06/2024
The WSK Euro Series kicked off in Franciacorta from 27th to 30th June. As a partner of the famous Italian promoter, the manufacturer LeCont supplied the OK category drivers with tyres, as it had done at the start of the season in the WSK Champions Cup and then the WSK Super Master Series. Performance and consistency once again accompanied the hopefuls of international karting from the first Free Practice sessions through to the Final.
46"201 at an average speed of 101.3 km/h was the extremely fast lap time set by Sweden's Scott Kin Lindblom in Qualifying. The lap record set at the start of the season was beaten in OK, as was the record set at the 2023 FIA Karting World Championship, when no driver managed to dip below the 47-second mark.
Thanks to the relentless work of the research and development department, high technology and many years of experience, LeCont has further increased its level of excellence. Fast on one lap, the tyres have also shown their ability to resist wearing over the course of the races. In each new Heat, Super Heat or Final, competitiveness remained very high, as shown by the successive best laps: 46"622, 46"488, 46"558, 46"516, 46"601 and 46"499 in the heats, 46"661 then 46"453 in the two Super Heats and 46"510 in the Final.
In other words, a delta of just two tenths, which appears to be an extremely small gap, allowing the drivers to give their all without worrying about the wear and tear on their tyres. The times achieved during the warm-up sessions also bear witness to the quality of the Italian factory's products.
LeCont promotes sporting fairness
The tyre manufacturing processes also guarantee equivalent performance from one set of tyres to another. The show put on by the 42 entries was a perfect illustration of this. Several drivers from different teams took turns at the top of the hierarchy on the Franciacorta Karting Track. Well done to Sweden's Scott Kin Lindblom, who made the difference in the Final against France's Andy Consani. Belgian Kai Rillaerts completed the top three ahead of Lithuania's Markas Silkunas and another Belgian, Ean Eyckmans. These drivers were able to appreciate the grip offered by LeCont tyres, which makes them such a pleasure to use.
LeCont recalls that drivers in the KZ2 and KZ2 Master categories also raced on the Italian manufacturer's 'prime' tyres in 2024, at the WSK Open Series, with great enjoyment at Franciacorta in April, then at Sarno in May.
The second and final round of the WSK Euro Series will take place at the Naples International Circuit in Sarno from September 25th-29th. The track layout has recently been modified, which should make the event even more intense and exciting. LeCont will obviously rise to this new technical and sporting challenge, while continuing to provide a quality service to drivers and teams.
